The Harvard Debate Council brings world-class debate instruction to students across the globe through its International Debate Workshops program. Reflecting our commitment to expanding access to debate education far beyond the walls of Harvard, the program has delivered workshops in schools and institutions across four continents — in Asia (China, India, South Korea, Singapore, Thailand, and Indonesia), Africa (Morocco, Kenya, Tanzania, and Rwanda), the Americas (Dominican Republic), and the Middle East (Dubai). Through these workshops, the Harvard Debate Council fulfills a core part of its educational mission: ensuring that the skills of rigorous argumentation, critical thinking, and confident public speaking are available to students wherever they are in the world.
Each workshop is a two-to-three day immersive experience, adaptable to the needs and experience level of the host institution — from foundational introductions to debate for first-time participants, to advanced training for students preparing for competitive tournaments. Led by experienced members and coaches of the Harvard Debate Council, the workshops deliver the same standard of instruction that has made Harvard one of the most respected names in competitive debate worldwide.
