Director, Harvard Debate Council & Coach of Debate at Harvard College

Harvard '09, Ph.D. Johns Hopkins '16. Director since 2017. 2005 high school national champion and top-ranked speaker at the Tournament of Champions. Directs the Harvard National Speech & Debate Tournament and Summer Workshops.

Assistant Director, Coaching & Online Classes

University of Oklahoma '19, CEDA Nationals champion. With HDC since 2019, became Assistant Director in January 2023. Works with universities in training college students in debate.

Ed Williams is an internationally recognized educator, global debate education consultant, and instructional leader with more than 30 years of experience advancing critical thinking, communication, and student leadership through debate education. As Chief of Staff of the Harvard Debate Council, he leads initiatives that expand access to world class debate education and partners with school leaders and educators around the globe to implement innovative approaches to Debate Across the Curriculum.
